“I Saw What I Saw”

August 31, 2008

I have seen some very amazing and very sad sights in the last few years.   The poverty of Alabama village in Mobile, AL.  Destruction from Hurricane Katrina.  Tornado damaged homes in Madisonville and my hometown.  Two homeless men and several lost people in Nashville.

In all the sadness of these events, I have also found such strength.  I’ve seen people accept and proclaim the name of Jesus in and through these moments in my life.

Such strength…how is is possible in such conditions and devastation?

Father God allows us to read and highlight as we turn the pages of our book, our life and our journey.

How do we find strength?

Psalm 50:3a says that “God comes and will not be silent.”

Our God will not be silent, even in the loudness and the storms of our life!!!!

I watched a video today that stirred my heart.  It also gave me the opportunity to reflect on some life events in the last few years.

The most important thing that I learned throughout the day is that I AM BLESSED!!!   I’m blessed with an awesome wife, two precious children, a great family, a wonderful church family, a career, and most importantly, the love of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!!!

Watch this and reflect on your blessings…..God Bless!

OUR GOD COMES AND WILL NOT BE SILENT!!!!!

Praise Him!!!!!

Reflection

December 16, 2007

I was searching through my journal and read something that touched me, again.  The key to having a journal is the ability to look back in the past and relive ‘moments’ in vivid detail.

This is from July 12, 2006.

“Father God, you have searched me and know me.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Your works and ways are wonderful.  Thank you for daily confirmation and many divine moments.  Search me and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts.  See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way of everlasting.

Father God, prepare me today to receive your Word and direction.  As I study, I am convinced more and more that we are in a battle.   Spiritual warfare is upon us.  Praise be to God that we have victory!!  Father God, lavish upon me your spirit and your Word.  Thank you for calling me out to bring people into your loving, healing and overcoming presence.  Father God, grow me through your Word, your Holy Spirit and your wisdom.

Father, bless Jenny, Keely and Addie.  Let them know that I love them deeply.  Help me to love them more. Expand them, keep your hand upon them and protect them.”

I am not good about keeping a daily journal, but when I do, I am able to go back and recall specific events of some great moments in my life.

This was from 17 months ago, but it is so relevant today!!!!

God Bless and be sure to acknowledge and record your “divine moments.”

Searching..

October 27, 2007

I have been desperately trying to find a quote that I read months ago and I just can not put my fingers on it.

This search has been very interesting.  It has me thumbing through several books looking for this quote.

I have searched through old journals and Word documents that I typed 2 years ago.

God has revealed many awesome quotes as I look through these books.  He has also taken me on memory lane and allowed me to see how His mighty hand has moved in the last several months.

This has me excited.  This has me ready to go, ready to minister in HIs name.

This quote spoke to me again..

“One of the great tragedies among many followers of Christ is the loss of ambition after coming to faith.  They have become convinced that any personal ambition is dishonoring to God.  I have met some who have gone so far as to only do the opposite of what they desired because they were so persuaded that any passion to achieve had to be rejected and overcome.  Their simple reasoning is “It can’t be God’s will of I want it.”  McManus, “Uprising”

God wants us moving forward with passion.

I realized this after looking back on moments in my journey.

This desperate search has allowed me to look back on the many miracles of God in my life.  Thank goodness I wrote the details down so that I could go back and relive His Goodness!!

If you do not journal, I challenge you to get a notebook and begin writing down the details of you life.  Write out prayers, write down your struggles, and write down your praises.  God will move and later in life, you can go back and relive the greatness of God.

I’m glad that I am “Searching!”
